En un sitio tan impresionante como el Liceu de Barcelona, lleno hasta la bandera, Jean Michel Jarre dio el 21 de abril uno de sus conciertos para celebrar el trigésimo aniversario de la creación de su Oxygène. Me quedé con las ganas de verle cuando vino al Estadi Olímpic, pero esta vez me resarcí con creces. No soy neutral, siempre he sido seguidor del músico francés, mi primer contacto con la música electrónica fue de niño y gracias a sus discos.
Bien, pues estaba yo en primera fila, expectante y emocionado, y sube el telón, mostrando en el escenario todos los cacharros dispuestos, sin duda los apasionados de lo analógico disfrutarían como enanos al verlos. No sale nadie al escenario y yo pensando cuánto tardaba el tipo en aparecer, cuando de repente veo que Jarre entra a la platea por la puerta del público y se dirige al escenario por el pasillo, pasando por el público que no para de saludarlo. Lo tuve a un palmo de distancia y pude darle la mano, je je.
Antes del concierto, habló un poco, explicando que los instrumentos con lo que iban a tocar él y otros tres músicos ya tenían treinta años, eran parte de una época irrepetible y que eran como señoras mayores a las que había que cuidar. Pedía disculpas por las imperfecciones que pudieran causar y que eso le daría encanto al concierto. Probó el theremin. “Espero hacerlo mejor dentro de un rato”, bromeó. Y comenzó. Y por mucho que uno haya escuchado Oxygène, aquello fue diferente y emocionante. Jean Michel Jarre a cuatro o cinco metros de mí, tocando el theremín o con el moog colgado del cuello… Y sí, lo que escuché no era impecable, pero eso precisamente era lo que lo hacía único y más a estas alturas en las que estamos. Era… diferente y sin embargo plenamente actual.
No pretendo hacer una crítica exhaustiva, ya lo hará alguien mejor que yo. Simplemente me quedó con una noche para el recuerdo, con un Jean Michel Jarre siempre animando (perro viejo con muchos años en el oficio) y dando espectáculo, saltando y dando palmadas (con esa vena teatrera o histriónica tan típica de él y que tanto disgusta a algunos) y con un público entregado.
Cuando acabó y se marchó, el público comenzó a aplaudir sin parar, con muchos en pie. Jean Michel al cabo de un rato volvió a salir, saludó y se fue de nuevo. El público seguía con los aplausos. En medio de una fuerte ovación (alguien le dijo “viva la madre que te parió”), Jarre volvió a salir por segunda vez y tocó un último tema. Agradeció al público su entusiasmo, dando vivas a Barcelona y dedicando el concierto a su madre de 94 años.
Gran noche, grandes músicos y Jarre mostrándose totalmente accesible y cercano, haciéndose fotos con el público, firmando autógrafos, estrechando las manos de los asistentes.
Se despidió con un “see you soon outdoor”. Ojalá.
